Elena Pareidolia-of-a-Theme

Pareidolia of a Theme

Pareidolia - the tendency to see a face
Or pattern, when it's not the case.
You may, for example, expect a rhyme
When really it was just a coincidence.

Of course, it is not always wrong,
This feeling which makes rocks alive.
But they won't stick to your song,
The rocks will dance a jive.

Don't you know the power of a theme?
It might give the rocks ideas
Of making true your fears
Of running away upstream.

You gave it stories and friends;
It was bound to find its place
Unshackled of your chains,
Replacing with warm embrace.

The unfiltered sound of birdsong,
The smell of tea, sweet and strong,
The taste of freshly cut chive,
The feeling of somewhere to belong.

Things are never as they seem.
As they say, even the best-laid scheme
Can disappear as would a dream
Into pareidolia of a theme.
