====== Society Game Wikis ======

This page is an overview of how the Wiki (this website) is used in [[https://oxfordrpg.com|ORPGSoc]] Society Games. If you come across terms you find unfamiliar, you may find the [[..:start:glossary|Glossary]] helpful. If you have any further questions, please reach out to the [[..:gameplay:gms_crew|GMs]].

The Wiki serves two primary purposes in a Society Game. Before the beginning of the game, the Wiki should be your go-to source of information about the game. During the game, the Wiki is the system used for [[..:system:downtimes_turnsheets#turnsheets|Turnsheets]]. See below for more information.

===== Navigating the Wiki =====

To move between pages on the Wiki, you only need to click on links to other pages, like [[|this one]]. These links can be found scattered throughout the pages, as well as on the sidebar to the left. The Wiki can also contain links to external webpages, such as [[https://oxfordrpg.com|this link]] to the ORPGSoc website. If you need help finding your way around the Wiki, then the [[..:start#getting_started|Welcome and Start Here!]] page has a guide to the most useful pages to read.

Most of the time, you will not be able to edit the pages on the Wiki as this is the GMs' responsibility. However, for pages which you can edit, such as your [[.:wiki_intro#writing_turnsheets|Turnsheets]], there will be a Pencil icon on the right which allows you to Create/Edit the page. Clicking this will bring you to the source for the page, where you can type the text you wish to appear on the page. To learn the syntax for the Wiki, you may find [[wiki:syntax|this page]] helpful, or you may wish to test things on the [[..:playground:playground|Playground]], a page for testing syntax which is often used for sharing memes about the game. You will need to be logged into your account to edit any pages (see the [[.:wiki_intro#user_accounts|User Accounts]] section below).

===== Information on the Wiki =====

The Wiki is contains information that is relevant for both the In-Character and Out-of-Character experience of the game.

IC information present on the Wiki can primarily be found in the Setting pages and in the pages for [[..:gameplay:character_creation|Character Creation]]. These should help you get a sense of who your characters for the game could be and what the premise of the game is. Some pages may be updated during the game to reflect changes or discoveries over the course of the game, though it should not be assumed that every page remains fully accurate as the game progresses.

The other pages primarily contain OC information about the game, such as [[..:start#when_where|when and where]] the game will take place, or the expected [[..start:cat|player conduct]] and prohibited topics for the game.

===== User Accounts =====

Once you have [[..:gameplay:character_creation|created a character]] and this character has been approved by the GMs, you will receive an email containing your account details for the Wiki. You will then be able to log in to your account via the button in the top-right of the page.

When you are logged in, the login button will be replaced by an icon of a head and shoulders. This button will let you access your User Page. This page is private to you and the GMs, and contains links to your Turnsheet pages. Until you create the Turnsheet pages, these links will be **red**, though will still take you to where the Turnsheet page should be created.

===== Writing Turnsheets =====

Your User Page (see above) will contain numbered red links to the pages on the Wiki for you to write your [[..:system:downtimes_turnsheets#turnsheets|Turnsheets]]. When you are ready to begin writing your Turnsheet, clicking on the pencil "Create This Page" icon on the right-hand-side of the page will bring up a template for the Turnsheet for you to fill in. You are allowed to deviate from the format given by the template, but any such changes may make it harder for the GMs to understand your Turnsheet, so please keep these changes to a minimum. Please do not delete the tags at the bottom of the template, as this will mean the GMs will not be notified about your Turnsheet being submitted.

After pressing 'save' on your Turnsheet, the page will be created. You will subsequently be able to edit your Turnsheet page. The GMs will only treat the contents of the Turnsheet as final once the deadline of **11:59pm** on the **Thursday** after Uptime has passed. If you will need longer to write your Turnsheet, please reach out to the GMs to ask for an extension. We are aware that there are many reasons for late Turnsheets, but if Turnsheets are late, the GMs will have less time to plan around them, so please try to hand your Turnsheets in on time when possible.
